We often say “we love taking families out”…because we honestly mean we LOVE it! Partaking in a kid’s curiosity (including all the questions!) is incredibly fun, and their enthusiasm for catching fish is hard to match. It’s especially interesting to see the the evolution of a kid not wanting to touch a fish, to later being elbow deep in fish guts! Not only do we teach them how to fish, we also involve them in the entire process as an opportunity to engage as much, or as little as they wish. Unsurprisingly, not all the fish we hook are landed and managing disappointment is an important life skill that kids naturally acquire on the boat.
We only book private trips so your family will never be mixed with anybody else. This means if you want to break from fishing at any point and switch to whale watching, we can easily do this. There are often many different inquires parents have regarding fishing/ being on a boat with kids, so the best way address your own particular concerns is to call Captain Alan.
Furthermore Tanja (Captain Alan’s wife) is the “crew” and is especially good with assisting with children or older grandparents. Know that while Alan is captaining the boat along with organizing the fishing, Tanja is dedicated to keeping everyone comfortable, happy, and has an energy level that is contagious! Throughout your trip Tanja will take extra photos of your family to airdrop at the end of the day so that you have loads of awesome pictures to share, or frame later.
